How does someone become an officer of HVBO?
- For membership on the Executive Committee - The President appoints a nominating committee (three members of the Executive Committee) by February 1 of each year. This committee prepares a slate of one or more candidates for each Executive Committee office. Nominations are closed by March 15.
- For sports chairpersons - Each sports chairperson appoints a nominating committee (two members from that sport) by February 1 of each year. This committee prepares a slate of one or more candidates (must be in good standing for at least five years).
How does someone receive an HVBO scholarship?
- Scholarships are available to children of HVBO officials. The application is mailed to all Board members with the annual call to meeting.
How much do HVBO officials get paid?
- Pay varies from year to year, from one sport to another, from one level to another (e.g., Varsity vs. Modified), and depends on whether there is one official or more on a match. Pay is negotiated as part of our contract with BOCES. Current rates are included in the contract which is accessible through www.hvbo.org. (See the “Professional Links” on the “Board Information” page).
